Senior J2EE Developer required for permanent role in Cavan.

Job Summary
Take a lead role in an application development delivery team, with responsibility for ensuring that the deliverables produced by the team are of the highest quality, are fit for purpose and that development standards are adhered to.

Responsibilities:

• Responsibility for on-going development, implementation and adherence to the quality review process for deliverables produced by the team and development processes used.
• Ensure that company standards and procedures are adhered to.  Contribute to the on-going developments of IT standards.
• Ensure that technical designs produced by the development team will meet the requirements from a business and technical level.
• Provide input to project delivery plans for task estimation purposes and for dependency management with internal and external suppliers.
• Assist team leader in the allocation of team members to development/support tasks.
• Provide feedback to team leader on the performance of team members.
• Analysis, design and development of application systems with a focus on quality delivery to agreed timescales.
• Provide support in the system development life cycle, from requirements gathering through to testing and post implementation.
• Liaise with third party suppliers and other internal departments on system requirements/issues with regards to the delivery and support of IT systems.
• Keep up to date on new and changing technologies
• Assist in the development and training of less experienced staff
• Develop an active and innovative role in the department

Requirements:

• Third level degree or equivalent
• Min 10 years experience in a project delivery and/or application support environment, with a minimum of 5 years in a J2EE environment.

• Strong knowledge in at least two of the following:
  iSeries, SQL Server, DB2, Linux, Windows, Websphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache

• Proven deep technical knowledge in a minimum of four of the following:
  J2EE/JSP/OOA/D, Web Services/Spring/Struts, Servlets, Oracle Weblogic Server/JDeveloper/SOA Suite/Weblogic Portal/Oracle Service Bus(ALSB), JDBC, XML, Xpath, XQuery, JSF, HTML, JUnit, SOAPUI, Eclipse, ANT, CVS.

• Excellent track record in delivery of systems projects for (preferably) a financial services industry.
• Ability to work independently and to right deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Proven ability to mentor less experienced staff and implement best practice & procedure.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, confidence in dealing with various levels within an organisation – Users, Management, Suppliers etc…
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong emphasis on delivering quality at all stages of the system development lifecycle.
