Description

Internal Auditor - Group - required for permanent role - based in Shannon or London.

 

Primary responsibilities:

As part of a team, providing an internal audit service for the Group, from a UK base. Based on risk assessment, coverage is likely to include group operations in Ireland, UK, Mainland Europe, Sweden, South Africa, China, USA and Japan. Travel for up to 60% of the year may be required.

 

  • Working closely with the Head of Group Risk and Internal Audit to build relationships with external service providers where required.
  • Leading practice and innovation
  • Delivering against the strategic internal audit plan that supports the Group in managing its business risks, including financial, operational, regulatory and IT risks.
  • Delivering against the identified process improvement programme for the internal audit function, bringing leading practice in risk-based, value-add internal audit.
  • Develop appropriate methodologies and knowledge to ensure the service meets professional standards and leading best practice.
  • Promoting the role of internal audit
  • Promoting the role of internal audit in conjunction with Head of function, with the attendance at management meetings, briefings and workshops as required.
  • Assisting to establishing internal audit as a source of advice to managers on business risk and corporate governance.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant or Auditor 
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an internal/external audit role in a commercial environment, with exposure to senior management experience.
  • Experienced in financial, operational and IT audit
  • Experience within manufacturing OR retail OR oil & gas sector is ESSENTIAL.
  • Be committed to personal development.
  • Demonstrate innovation and process improvement in delivering internal audit services.
  • Have a ‘hands on’ approach to getting the job done
  • Possess strong communication skills including report writing
